FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of operating a hot or cold rolling mill in a rolling or metallurgical plant, comprising a row of rolling stands with support rolls mounted on at least one sliding bearing, which is equipped with lubricant. As lubricant for sliding bearing there used is single-phase fluid on water base, in which at least one viscosity enhancing additive is added, wherein biopolymer material is added to water as additive, wherein the biopolymer material, in particular, is cellulose, starch and/or bacterial polysaccharides, or a modified cellulose salt is added as a single polymer lubricant.
EFFECT: technical result is providing improved operation of rolling mills.
