FIELD: pulp industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of forming cross-linked cellulose, which includes mixing a cross-linking agent with cellulose fiber mats, consisting of cellulose fibers, bonded with hydrogen bonds, with dry substance content of about 45–95 % to form a substantially homogeneous mixture of non-cross-linked, fluffy cellulose fibers and a cross-linking agent; drying the obtained mixture to dry substance content of 85–100 %, followed by hardening of the dried mixture under conditions, efficient for cellulose fiber cross-linking. Some of such methods may include fragmentation of mat from cellulose fibers with formation of fragments of mat. Systems include a mixing unit (such as a mixer for high-consistency media), configured to form a substantially homogeneous mixture of uncrosslinked, fluffy cellulose fibers and a cross-linking agent in ambient conditions from the fragments of the mat and the cross-linking agent; a drying unit for drying a substantially homogeneous mixture to concentration of 85–100 %; and a curing agent for curing with a cross-linking agent to form dry, solidified and cross-linked cellulose fibers.

EFFECT: disclosed are modified fiber from milled cellulose, methods and systems.
