SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cellulose-based products. Disclosed is a cellulose mass for producing products based on cellulose ethers, having water-retention capacity WRV in range of 0.8 to less than 1.0 g/g and a R18 value of the pulp of more than 89%, in which the cross-linked cellulose fibres contain a glycidyl ether cross-linking substance containing two or more glycidyl groups, wherein the ratio of the cross-linking substance to the cellulose mass is at least 2:100, the weighted average molecular weight is from 174 to 500, wherein the cellulose mass is a sulphate cellulose mass. Also disclosed is a mixed cellulose mass.

EFFECT: disclosed cellulose mass has high viscosity and, accordingly, high degree of cross-linking, which increases its suitability for producing high-quality ether.
