FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to production of electrotechnical composite material based on copper containing silicon carbide particles. It can be used in production of breaking power electric contacts, in switches of powerful electric networks and vacuum arc-quenching chambers. Powders of copper, silicon and carbon are subjected to combined mechanical treatment in a high-energy ball planetary mill in an argon atmosphere at the ratio of masses of balls and mixture of powders of 10:1-20:1, rotation speed of planetary mill planetary mill 300-500 rpm and processing time 60-180 minutes. Obtained mixture of reaction composite particles is subjected to spark plasma sintering in chamber in vacuum or in atmosphere of inert gas with passing through sintered mixture of pulsed electric current of 500-5000 A under load of 30-50 MPa, at temperature of 700-1000°C and sintering duration 10-30 minutes.
EFFECT: higher hardness of composite material, reduced porosity and specific electrical resistance.
