FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of mineral fertilizers and salts and can be used in chemical industry in the process of potassium nitrate production from a semi-product of ammonium nitrate production using a conversion method. Method of producing potassium nitrate involves exchange decomposition of potassium chloride and ammonium nitrate at temperature of 60–65 °C, separation of first crystals of potassium nitrate at 10–20 °C, separating them from the first mother solution and washing. Potassium chloride and ammonium nitrate are fed for exchange decomposition in form of dry products with stoichiometric molar ratio of 1:1 and treated with a mixture of washing water after washing first crystals of potassium nitrate solution of potassium nitrate, a second mother solution obtained after evaporation of the first mother solution and separation of second crystals and water.
EFFECT: higher degree of conversion of potassium chloride to potassium nitrate with simplification of process, resulting in reduced power consumption and high quality of the obtained product.
