FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to methods of producing wire, as well as to designs of helical springs and methods of making said wires and can be used for making wire having a cross-section shaped as a pointed rectangle. Method of producing a long workpiece for making a helical spring includes preparation of a workpiece, drawing and multi-junction deformation of a billet by means of its drawing using rollers with oval grooves. At the first transition of deformation, billet cross-section dimensions are determined, which are determined from the given condition. Said method is used in production of helical spring. Resulting spring is characterized by that it is wound with orientation of larger side of turn perpendicularly, parallel or at an angle to axis of spring.
EFFECT: higher quality of helical spring with simultaneous simplification of its manufacturing technology.
