FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: retractor of sternum and costal arch comprises toothed rack, on one end of which extending mechanism is installed, consisting of slide with latch for fixation on rack in required position and installed on slider gears with key-handle to move slider on rack. On the slider the first bracket is installed, consisting of vertical and horizontal plates and having on the vertical plate two opposite axes-gears, and on horizontal—at least, one attachment element to lifting-tightening device. One axis-gear is inserted into mating hole on slider with possibility of slider slide locking relative to first bracket in required position, and on second pinion axis hook is installed for displacement and lifting of upper ribs. On the other end of the gear rack there is a third axle-gear fixed, on which the second bracket is installed, equipped with at least one hook rotating around the fixing axis to the bracket for the lower ribs displacement.

EFFECT: invention enables facilitation of surgeon's work on installation and maintenance of the retractor, id est improved ergonomics of the claimed device.
