FIELD: pharmaceuticals.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is the use of a composition comprising protein, lipid and carbohydrates, where the protein provides at least all indispensable amino acids, except phenylalanine, wherein the lipid contains one or more ω-3 fatty acids, selected from a group consisting of DHA, DPA and EPA, in total concentration of at least 0.05 wt % of total content of lipids, and one or more pyrimidine derivatives selected from a group consisting of uridine sources and cytidine sources providing from 0.4 to 3000 mg of a uridine source, calculated as urine monophosphate per 100 kcal composition, and/or from 0.4 to 3000 mg of cytidine source, calculated as cytidine monophosphate per 100 kcal composition, for reducing, normalizing or maintaining the level of phenylalanine in the blood of a patient with phenylketonuria below 1200 mcmol/l.
EFFECT: invention provides control of phenylalanine blood levels in patients with phenylketonuria.
