FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed invention relates to protection of metals from corrosion, namely to rust converters for preparation of rusted steel articles for painting or concreting. Rust converter contains substituted phenol 5–30 %, thickener 1–10 %, and water is the rest. Substituted phenol used is pyrocatechol or hydroquinone or metol. Thickener used is sodium silicate, or starch, or polyvinyl alcohol, or a sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose.
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of corrosion protection, as well as longer service life of painted steel articles and reinforced concrete structures.
