SUBSTANCE: invention describes a method of protecting brown coal in open storage against spontaneous ignition and dusting when exposed to atmospheric phenomena, involving depositing a pyrogenic composition onto the coal surface, characterized in that the antipyrogenic composition used is an aqueous suspension of coal dust of 0 mm fraction, diluted with aqueous solution of surfactant so that amount of residue in relation to amount of water is not more than 5 %, and concentration of surfactant in finished composition is not more than 0.5 %.
EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing duration of incubation period of spontaneous ignition of brown coal treated with a pyrogenic compound, as a whole twice as compared to untreated coal.
