FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing low-ash activated charcoal from carbon-containing raw material, selected from peat, wood or coconut shells, in which crude mass of initial material is subjected to hydrothermal carbonisation process, in which said mass is heated to temperature of 150–350 °C and increasing working pressure to 10–40 bar, and carbonized material obtained during hydrothermal carbonisation is activated by heating it to temperature of more than 400 °C. Said method includes a step of washing raw material mass prior to hydrothermal carbonisation to reduce content of ash components.

EFFECT: invention enables to reduce content of ash in coal without deterioration of porosity.
