FIELD: electrical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrical equipment. System of overvoltage arresters units (20) is connected in several locations in electric power transmission and distribution network to provide protection at the level of power grid from various disturbing effects before such disturbing effects can reach or affect equipment of object level. Overvoltage surge arrester units effectively prevent influence of power grid by large voltage and current surges. Besides, overvoltage limiter units include various integration features, which provide diagnostics and remote report generation, required by majority of operations of power company.
EFFECT: technical result of invention is protection of grid components from large events, such as natural geomagnetic disturbances (solar flashes), extreme electrical events (lightning) and events caused by human factor (EMP) and cascade failures in electric power grid.
