FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of foundry production and can be used for production of shell molds by molten models at production of exact castings from ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Method of making molds for investment casting involves layer-by-layer deposition on a melted model of a suspension based on binders of alcohol hydrolysates ethylsilicate with backfilling of each layer with granular refractory powder and its drying. Successively applying on molten layer a layer of suspension on alcohol solution of hydrolyzate ethylsilicate with ratio of water and ethoxy groups ethylsilicate 0.25-0.5 to 1, sprinkled with granular fire-resistant powder and air-dried applied layer, and then deposited a layer of suspension with binder in aqueous solution of colloidal silica, it is sprinkled with granular fire-resistant powder and the applied layer is dried on air, at that successive layers application is repeated till 12 layers are obtained, and level pH of water binder is kept within 8.5-10.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to reduce time of performance of operation of drying layers when making molds using as binder as alcohol hydrolysates ethylsilicate without treatment of applied layers in ammonia, and colloidal solution of silica.
