SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for increasing the adhesion of an image to at least one surface of a paper product, a paper product with print, and a printed paper product. Image is obtained with an electrophotographic printer using liquid toner technology, and the image is based on liquid toner. Method includes processing at least a portion of a paper product prior to printing with a composition comprising a water-soluble coupling agent and a water-soluble coupling additive. The coupling additive includes a polymer with one or more repeating units that is derived from one or more monomers selected from vinyl pyrrolidone, an oxazoline-containing monomer, or their combination. The coupling agent is selected from polyvinyl alcohol, oxidized starch, cationized starch, esterified starch, enzymatically denatured starch, or their combination.
EFFECT: image adhesion to paper product is greater than 90% when tested for tape peel using 3M 230 tape.
