FIELD: compositions and methods for treating a substrate and for improving the adhesion of an image to a treated substrate.
SUBSTANCE: method for improving the adhesion of an image to a treated substrate includes: obtaining a substrate; applying a water-based composition to the substrate to obtain a treated substrate, the composition contains: a binder, an additive to the binder with a polymer, the polymer containing at least one repeating unit and at least one repeating unit contains a tertiary amide group, and an aluminum salt; and applying a liquid toner to the treated substrate to form an image on the treated substrate, while the composition contains an additive to the binder and an aluminum salt at a mass ratio of 4:1 to 1:2, the binder is selected from the following: polyvinyl alcohol, starch, gelatin, casein, protein, carboxymethylcellulose, hydroxyethylcellulose, acrylic emulsion, vinyl acetate emulsion, vinylidene chloride emulsion, polyester emulsion, styrene-butadiene emulsion, acrylonitrile-butadiene latex, or combinations thereof; a water-soluble hydroxy-functional polymer; or starch selected from the group consisting of oxidized starch, cationized starch, ethylated starch, esterified starch, enzyme-denatured starch, and combinations thereof, and the substrate selected from the group consisting of paper product, woven fibrous material, nonwoven fibrous material, and combinations thereof. A printing material is also claimed, which is characterized by improved adhesion of the image to the treated substrate.
EFFECT: proposed systems and methods for processing the substrate make it possible to improve the adhesion of the image to the treated substrate.
