FIELD: submersible pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric submersible pumps intended, in particular, for the production of hydrocarbons, and can be used to seal the locks of a downhole pumping unit. The downhole pumping unit (13) contains tubular first and second components (25, 27) having a common longitudinal axis (29), cylindrical outer surfaces (31, 43) and end faces (35, 47) facing each other and forming between them a lock. A plurality of metal foil layers (55) formed from a strip are welded to the outer surfaces of the first and second components around the lock. A strip of metal foil (55) is placed around the lock and welded to the outer surfaces (31, 43) by rotating two components (25, 27) around a common axis (29) using an ultrasonic transducer (57) by vibrating the strip of metal foil. EFFECT: formed plurality of layers of metal foil seals the components of the pump assembly to prevent wellbore fluids from entering the lock.
