SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method for extracting bitumen from oil-bearing sands. The invention relates to a method for extracting bitumen from oil sands, which involves injecting steam containing glycol ether with terminal ethylene oxide into a well, while the glycol ether with terminal ethylene oxide is RO-(CH2CH(CH3)O)m(C2H4O)nH, in which R is 2-methyl-1-pentyl, n-hexyl, n-heptyl, n-octyl, 2-ethylhexyl, 2-propylheptyl, phenyl or cyclohexyl, and m and n are independently equal to 1 to 3, and bitumen extraction from the well by bringing the oil-bearing sands into contact with the specified glycol ether with terminal ethylene oxide, these oil-bearing sands being produced by open-pit mining or extracted from the formation in situ.
EFFECT: improved bitumen extraction from oil-bearing sands.
