SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of oil production, in particular to methods of extracting oil from underground oil fields. The technical result is a reduction in product flooding, an increase in the recovery of reserves, the ability to deeply pump the blocking compound into areas with high permeability in the oil formation, reliable blocking of high permeability channels during displacement by steam. A method for extracting oil from an underground oil field that includes at least one oil-bearing layer L, into which at least one injection well and at least one production well are drilled, includes the following steps: (1) injection of at least one water formulation F, which, when heated to a temperature of TK or higher, forms a gel, through the specified at least one injection well into the specified at least one oil-bearing layer L, with the temperature TL of the specified at least one oil-bearing layer L being from 8 to 60 °C and the temperature TK above the temperature TL of the specified at least one oil-bearing layer L, (2) direct and/or indirect heating of at least part of water formulation F injected at Step (1) by injecting water vapor into the oil field, with the temperature of the injected water vapor being between 200 and 350 °С, (3) production of oil through at least one production well, with the temperature of the water formulation F when injected in accordance with Step (1) being below its critical temperature TK, and Step (2) being implemented at least until at least part of the water formulation F injected at Step (1) is heated to a temperature at least equal to TK.

EFFECT: technical result is a reduction in product flooding, an increase in the recovery of reserves, the ability to deeply pump the blocking compound into areas with high permeability in the oil formation, reliable blocking of high permeability channels during displacement by steam.
