FIELD: hydraulic engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydraulic engineering, in particular to devices for extinguishing the flow of water for open channels. The method consists in the formation of the hydraulic structure of the flow in the open channel directly in the transitional expanding quenching chamber between the inlet 1 and outlet 2 channels. The hydraulic structure of the flow formed in the expanding damping chamber 3 includes baffles 4 installed inside the damper at a right angle with bypass channels 5 and confusers 6, 7, 8. Confusers 6, 7, 8 are made in the form of short pipes, the head of which is covered from above by rigidly fixed water overflow horizontal shelves 9, 10, 11. Each subsequent confuser has a diameter smaller than the previous one. At the end of the quenching chamber 3, a conical quenching element 12 is installed, made in the form of a vertical threshold and having walls broken in plan, covered from above by a water-overflow horizontal shelf 13, providing a back-up towards the last confuser 8 and at the same time directed damping of the kinetic energy of the incoming flow towards the outlet channel 2.
EFFECT: increases the efficiency of damping the kinetic energy of the flow in an open channel and hydraulic processes due to the features of the structural elements of the structure.
