FIELD: hydraulic engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for water flow damping in end devices of closed pipelines and tunnel culverts. Water flow energy absorber comprises water conduit 1, a vertical damping chamber 3 with an annular partition, made in the form of a closed sleeve, in the upper part of which on the side of discharge pipeline 14 there is bypass hole 12 located at the level of discharge tray 13. Above water conduit 1 installed inside chamber 3 along its axis there is a package of thin-walled elements 4, each of which is made in the form of a funnel with its base facing downwards. Upper base 5 of lower thin-walled element 6 is plugged. Upper base of the upper thin-walled element 7 is connected by means of an annular partition made in the form of a horizontal annular grid 8 to the housing of chamber 3. Annular partition is installed in upper part of chamber 3 with formation of additional damping chamber 9. Water conduit 1 is buried at a distance equal to 0.1–0.5 of the height of chamber 3.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improvement of efficiency and reliability of the process of intensive damping of kinetic energy of water flow.
