FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, namely, to methods for determining the chlorine dioxide concentration in drinking water after its treatment with chlorine dioxide. The method of spectrophotometric differential indirect determination of the chlorine dioxide concentration in drinking water includes measuring changes in the optical density of a solution of 1.10-phenanthroline iron (II) complex and determining the chlorine dioxide concentration from the calibration graph. A sample of drinking water is added to the finished solution of 1.10-phenanthroline iron (II) complex. The finished solution of 1.10-phenanthroline iron (II) complex contains (2.2-2.9)×10-4 mole/dm3 of iron (II), (4.20-4.40)×10-3 mole/dm3 of 1.10-phenanthroline, 1.0-1.2 mole/dm3 of sodium acetate.
EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the accuracy and simplification of the method of spectrophotometric differential indirect determination of the chlorine dioxide concentration in drinking water.
