FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: system for detecting the position of at least one movable element of a window or door unit, comprising: at least one sensor for recording a magnetic field, designed so that the recorded magnetic field changes when at least one movable element moves; and a processing tool adapted to receive from the sensor output signals associated with the detected magnetic field, and determine the position of at least one movable element; while the system is designed to operate in the calibration mode and in the normal mode, while in the calibration mode the system is designed to record at least the value of the output signal of at least one sensor, when at least one movable element is in the first predetermined position corresponding to the first base value, while in normal mode, the processing tool is designed to use at least the first basic value in determining the position of at least one movable element.
