FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the area of electrical engineering, particularly to methods of monitoring power consumption within a separate section of a power network. The technical result is achieved by the method for monitoring power consumption being executed in relation to a separate section of a power network containing one or more electrical receivers - power-consuming electrical apparatuses - connected via a connecting unit with a power distribution network. Implementation of the method is provided by a hardware system including, particularly, a processor and an informational and analytical system. Information on the standard values of the current characteristics of each electrical receiver or the type of each electrical receiver, or information obtained from the results of operation of the apparatus (electrical receiver) in a single mode for a long period of time, at least 10 hours, or information on simultaneous operation of a group of electrical receivers is supplied to the informational and analytical system.
EFFECT: monitoring changes of current in the power network and determining the operating mode of the electrical apparatus by the characteristics of the current map.
