FIELD: slide bearings.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to slide bearings, namely to methods for regulating the physical properties of slide bearings during operation. The method for controlling the characteristic of the operating mode of the sliding bearing includes the stages at which: a) the temperature dependence of the dynamic viscosity of the sliding bearing lubricant is determined; b) the temperature of the transition of the sliding bearing from semi-liquid friction to liquid friction is determined; c) based on the temperature dependence of the dynamic viscosity of the lubricant, the temperature dependence of the operating mode characteristic λ(Т) and the value of the operating mode characteristic λcr of the transition of the sliding bearing from semi-liquid friction to liquid friction are determined; d) the operating temperature of the sliding bearing is measured; e) the operating temperature of the sliding bearing to maintain the operating value of the operating mode characteristic λop close to λcr in the range that is transitional between semi-liquid friction and liquid friction is adjusted.

EFFECT: reduction in friction losses during the operation of the sliding bearing, a reduction of its starting torque while expanding the performance characteristics of the bearing without changing its design, reduction of the impact of errors in the calculations and production of the bearing on its operation and simplification of the design of the sliding bearing.
