FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring equipment and can be used to determine bending stresses in the wall of underground oil and gas pipelines. The method includes measuring the depth, latitude and longitude of the pipeline axis with the help of route-finding equipment at the reference points of measurements, and the obtained data is used to calculate the local bending radii and bending stresses in local sections of the underground pipeline. The measured values of the depth, latitude and longitude of the pipeline axis at the reference points have an error equal to the error of the tracing equipment, and in order to obtain the calculated values of bending stresses with an error not exceeding the specified one, it is necessary to select the step between the reference points of measurements.
EFFECT: invention reduces the error in determining bending stresses in the wall of an underground pipeline due to the selection of the step between the reference points of measurements before determining the spatial position of the pipeline axis.
