SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hydrometallurgy of zirconium and hafnium and can be used to obtain pure compounds of zirconium and hafnium by extraction method. The method for extraction separation of zirconium and hafnium includes the total extraction of zirconium and hafnium from the initial nitric acid solution with an extractant solution, tributyl phosphate in a hydrocarbon diluent, washing from impurities of the total extract of zirconium and hafnium with a solution with the same concentration of nitric acid as in the initial solution, separation of zirconium and hafnium with a decrease in acidity, primary re-extraction of zirconium from the total re-extract of zirconium and hafnium with the combination of the total extract washed from impurities and the extract after the primary re-extraction of zirconium in the duct, slightly acidic re-extraction of zirconium with subsequent regeneration of the extractant solution, in this case, hafnium raffinate after the primary re-extraction of zirconium in an amount of up to 50% is returned to the beginning of the cycle to maintain the required hafnium content in the initial nitric acid solution, and the remaining part of hafnium raffinate after the primary re-extraction of zirconium is adjusted for the nitric acid content and sent to the secondary re-extraction of zirconium, the extract after the secondary re-extraction of zirconium is sent to the total extraction operation, and hafnium raffinate after the secondary re-extraction of zirconium is acidified with nitric acid, then, hafnium is extracted with a regenerated acidified extractant solution, then hafnium is re-extracted with a nitric acid solution containing hafnium.

EFFECT: ensuring the stable production of concentrated zirconium and hafnium re-extracts pure from the impurities content viewpoint, with high productivity in a single extraction cycle.
