SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and system for determining the location of vacant parking spaces. A method for obtaining information about an available parking space nearest to a geographic location by searching a database for available parking spaces and supplemented with information on the rules for using the parking space. During the search and information exchange, the accumulated statistical information related to the vehicle, the parking space, vehicles in the geographic proximity; the parked vehicle, the parking space, vehicles in the geographic proximity, habits of the User, is taken into account. The User therein is notified by the system about the movement of the vehicle from the parking space. A system for determining available parking spaces, consisting of elements, wherein one of the elements performs the function of data storage and the other performs the functions of receiving, transmitting, inputting, outputting and processing data. The element therein provides an estimation of sufficiency of a parking space by dimensions, informs about theft, evacuation of the vehicle, exchanges information about the vehicle being blocked by at least one other vehicle.

EFFECT: timely determination of a vacant parking space is achieved.
