FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and method of selecting a parking space for a vehicle. Method for remote automatic search and detection of free parking places comprises steps of, on images transmitted from video cameras to server, one or more parking spaces are marked and geographic location of each of them is related to points marked on the image. Image from a video camera or video cameras is transmitted to a server in real time, recognition and tracking of images of vehicles in the frame. Method also includes steps of calculating intersection of images of vehicle with selected parking area and one or more parking spaces, marking in base if available or free, request from a user to a server through a set of means for displaying information on the status of parking spaces near a given address or point of coordinates, sending data from the server in real time on availability of available seats. User, using the installed mobile application, sees information on available seats and selects the optimum place on the map.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of parking spaces detection.
