FIELD: video coding.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to high efficiency video coding (HEVC) and versatile video coding (VVC). A method for decoding the current block is proposed. The method contains a stage in which information is decoded so that the current block is divided into more than one segment, based on one or more syntactic elements in the bit stream. Further, according to the method, information is decoded so that the spatial segmentation is uniform, based on one or more syntactic elements in the bit stream. The size of the segment unit is determined based on one or more syntactic elements or based on a predefined size of the segment unit.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of video encoding/decoding.
