FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to an element made of TiAl alloy and can be used for the manufacture of aircraft engine parts. A TiAl alloy member for making an aircraft engine part by hot forging comprises a substrate made of a TiAl alloy and an Al layer formed directly on the surface of the substrate, the Al layer containing 70 at.% or more of Al and containing Ti. A method of manufacturing a TiAl alloy element for hot forging includes the step of forming a substrate by melting and casting a starting material from a TiAl alloy and the step of forming an Al layer containing 70 at.% Or more Al and containing Ti directly on the substrate surface by diffusion coating the substrate with aluminum. In the Al layer formation step, the substrate is immersed in a treatment powder obtained by mixing a raw material powder of Al, an activator and a sintering inhibitor, and heat treated in a non-oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature of 650°C or higher to 800°C or lower. The hot forging TiAl element is forged in an air atmosphere.
EFFECT: improvement in hot forging workability is provided.
