SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical compositions for the neutralization of hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans in hydrocarbon media, in particular oil, and can be used in the oil-producing and oil-refining industry. The composition for the neutralization of hydrogen sulfide and light mercaptans in hydrocarbon media includes sodium nitrite, an aqueous solution of amines, alkali metal hydroxide and their polysulfides, characterized in that it additionally contains metal compounds of variable valence of a high degree of oxidation, with the following component ratio, wt.%: a composition consisting of a metal compound of variable valence of a high degree of oxidation, selected from the group of Со3+, Мо6+, Fe2+, Fe3+, Cu2+, and an aqueous solution of alkali metal polysulfide and/or polysulfide of primary or secondary ethanolamines, taken in the mass ratio of the metal compound: polysulfide 1:50-150 3-10%; monoethanolamine, diethanolamine or ethylenediamine 2-5%; alkali metal hydroxide 5-25%; alkali metal nitrite 3-25%; water - the rest. The technical task to which the claimed invention is directed is to increase the efficiency of the process by reducing the consumption of the reagent and reducing the total amount of the water phase supplied to the hydrocarbon media during its simultaneous purification from hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans in one stage. Another task of the invention is to reduce the corrosion activity of oil and oil distillates.

EFFECT: proposed composition for purification from hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans is used without air supply, which makes it possible to sharply reduce the time of neutralization reactions of mercaptans, reduce the cost of processing due to the use of cheap reagents, which determines the possibility of its implementation in industrial conditions regardless of the content of hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans in hydrocarbon media.
