FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition for neutralizing hydrogen sulfide and light mercaptans in hydrocarbon media and improving a copper form index in oil products comprising the composition in an aqueous solution, consisting of alkali metal compounds and agents containing an amino group, wherein as alkali metal compounds, the composition comprises alkali metal polysulfides and/or polysulfides of primary or secondary ethanolamines, alkali metal hydroxides, and, as agents, containing an amino group, it comprises water-soluble alkylamines, alkanolamines and/or diamines at following component ratio: alkali metal and/or polysulfides of primary or secondary ethanolamines of 3–15 wt %, hydroxides of alkali metals of 5–35 wt %, water-soluble alkylamines, alkanolamines and/or diamines of 2–7wt %, water – balance.
EFFECT: effective method allows, when using available reagents, purifying from hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans in one step.
