SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an effective method for separating mixed liquid, which is a method for continuously separating light liquid and heavy liquid having specific weight greater than that of light liquid from mixed liquid containing light liquid, heavy liquid and emulsion liquid consisting of light liquid and heavy liquid, by continuously introducing mixed liquid into a separation container, wherein the specified light liquid contains (meth)acrylate, the specified heavy liquid contains water, and the specified emulsion liquid contains (meth)acrylate and water, where the separation container contains: container case (T); chamber (A) into which mixed liquid is introduced and in which boundary (F) is formed between light liquid and heavy liquid, chamber (B) into which light liquid flows from chamber (A) by overflowing overflow part (Wa), and chamber (C) into which heavy liquid flows from the lower part of chamber (A) through pipe (N4) for transferring liquid, which are chambers, respectively, formed by separating the inner part of container case (T) by means of installed partition (W1, W2) installed from the lower surface of container case (T); detector part (S1) configured to confirm the presence or absence of emulsion liquid by determining the height from the bottom of container case (T) to boundary (F) in chamber (A); drain parts (N2, P2, V2, L2, N3, P3, L3) configured so that liquids can flow out of chamber (B) and chamber (C), respectively, to maintain liquid levels in chambers within the set range; and extraction part (N5) for emulsion liquid, configured to extract emulsion liquid from the middle part of chamber (A) in the vertical direction, where one end of pipe (N4) for transferring liquid is open in chamber (A), and its other end is open in chamber (C), the upper edge of installed partition (W2) separating chamber (A) and chamber (C) is configured so that it is located above overflow part (Wa), and at the same time, when the height from the bottom of container case (T) to overflow part (Wa) is defined as h1, the height from the lower part of container case (T) to hole (Na) of pipe (N4) for transferring liquid in chamber (C) is defined as h2, the height from the lower part of container case (T) to boundary (F) in chamber (A) is defined as h1·α and the ratio of PH/PL of specific weight PH of heavy liquid to specific weight PL of light liquid is defined as X, the dependence α=(h2 × X - h1)/h1(X - 1) is set, α is from 0.2 (when X has the minimum value of Xmin) to 0.6 (when X has the maximum value of Xmax).
