A device for implementing a distributed database comprises a memory associated with a distributed database instance on a computing device; and a processor operatively coupled to the memory, adapted to receive a set of events from a set of computing devices from a plurality of computing devices, wherein each event from the set of events is associated with a set of transactions and the number of the accepted round, determining the order for each event from the set of events based on the first and second configuration of the event consensus protocol, determining the current state associated with the distributed database instance based on the order defined for each event from the set of events, generating a signed state associated with a distributed database instance based on the hash value associated with the current state, where the hash value is digitally signed using a private key associated with the computing device, sending a signal to add an event to the distributed database instance that contains a transaction indicating the signed state.
