SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device (1) for practicing weightlifting, comprising a barbell (10) extending in the longitudinal direction, wherein the barbell contains at least one section (30) for a weight load, configured to accommodate one or more free weights (100) containing a hole (101), made to grip the area for the weight load. The section for the weight load consists of an end stop (31) for one or more free weights at the first end (32) of the weight load section, a groove (12) at the second opposite end (11) of the weight load section or adjacent to it, as well as a stopping element (40) free weights to fix the free weights to prevent the free weights from accidentally falling off the other end. The free weight locking element is movable in the longitudinal direction (L) along the section for the weight load between the groove and at least one free weight locking position (33) located between the groove and the end stop. In addition, the free weight stopper element can move in a second direction in the groove between the recessed position and the raised position, the recessed position being the position in which the free weight stopping element is fully or at least predominantly submerged in the groove, and the raised position is a position in which the free weight retaining element is raised relative to the recessed position and protrudes at least partially outside the slot.
