FIELD: aqueous dispersion.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for obtaining an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles by means of radical water-emulsion polymerization, as well as its application in paint materials, paper coatings, foams, plant protection products, cosmetics, inks or thermoplastic molding masses. A method for obtaining an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles by radical water-emulsion polymerization, including the following steps: i) obtaining an aqueous dispersion of a seed polymer by radical water-emulsion polymerization of an aqueous emulsion of monomers containing: a) from 25.0 to 99.9 wt % of at least one nonionic monoethylene unsaturated M1 monomer having a water solubility of 50 g/l at 20°С, based on the total mass of the monomers used in stage I), and the polyalkylene oxide-containing substance, b) 0 to 15.0 wt % of one or more monoethylene unsaturated monomers M2 selected from M2a monomers having at least one anionic or anionic group and neutral M2b monomers having a water solubility > 50 g/l at 20°С, and their mixtures, in terms of the total mass of the monomers used in stage I), and polyalkylene oxide-containing substance and c) from 0.1 to 60.0 wt % of at least one polyalkylene oxide-containing substance, based on the total mass of the monomers used in stage i), and polyalkylene oxide-containing substance; (ii) obtaining an aqueous dispersion of the swelling seed by radical water-emulsion polymerization of an aqueous suspension containing: d) from 5 to 99.9 wt % of at least one nonionic monoethylene unsaturated monomer M3 having a water solubility of 50 g/l at 20°С based on the total mass of the monomers used in stage II), and a seed polymer from stage I), e) from 0 to 75.0 wt % of one or more monoethylene unsaturated M4 monomers selected from M4a monomers having at least one anionic or anionic group, and neutral M4b monomers having a water solubility > 50 g/l at 20°С, and their mixtures, based on the total mass of the monomers used in stage II), and the seed polymer from stage i), and f) from 0.1 to 20.0 wt % of the seed polymer obtained in stage i), based on the total mass of the monomers used in stage ii), and the seed polymer from stage i); iii) subsequent formation of at least one polymer shell by radical water-emulsion polymerization of M5 monomers forming the shell in the presence of a swelling seed obtained in stage ii), with the formation of an aqueous dispersion of the emulsion polymer particles; and iv) subsequent neutralization of at least one base of the aqueous dispersion obtained in stage iii) to a pH value of at least 7.5.

EFFECT: application of aqueous dispersion of polymer particles in paint and varnish materials, paper coatings, foams, plant protection products, cosmetics, inks or thermoplastic molding materials.
