FIELD: packaging technology.

SUBSTANCE: method for forming a box from a workpiece, in which the workpiece is provided on the drive line. The workpiece contains a plurality of panels, including a front panel, an intermediate panel, a lower panel and a rear panel, and a plurality of side panels running across the drive line. Each panel is connected to two opposite side panels. The workpiece has an adhesive folding valve with or without connected side panels. One or more products are placed on the bottom panel, the workpiece is moved forward along the drive line, the side panels connected to the front and bottom panels are bent down in the first direction. The side panels connected to the intermediate and rear panels are bent upwards in the second direction opposite to the first direction, as the workpiece moves forward along the drive line, so that the panels from which each bent side panel departs become rigid. The side panels that have been bent up are held in place when the workpiece moves forward along the drive line. Reinforced panels are less susceptible to bending along false cuts that pass across the workpiece during the bending stages and bending during the box formation process.
