FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemicals for surface sizing, preparation methods and applications in paper production. A composition for surface sizing contains metal salt, where metal has at least 3 valence electrons and aqueous polymer dispersion. Aqueous polymer dispersion is aqueous polymer dispersion (A) and an aqueous pre-polymer composition (B). Aqueous polymer dispersion (A) is prepared by free radical emulsion copolymerization of the first mixture of unsaturated monomers having an ethylene bond in the presence of a water-soluble redox system containing the first free radical initiator for free radical emulsion copolymerization. The aqueous pre-polymer composition (B) is prepared by free radical emulsion copolymerization, in a polymerization solvent containing C1-6-carboxylic acid and C1-6-carboxylic acid anhydride, in the presence of the second free radical initiator and by adding water to resulting polymer dispersion to obtain the aqueous pre-polymer composition.
EFFECT: stability of the composition during storage is ensured.
