FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: developed is a highly active trimetallic material containing mixed transition metal oxide and a method for production thereof. The material can be subjected to sulphidation producing metal sulphides used as a catalyst in a method for conversion, e.g., in hydrotreatment. Hydrotreatment can include hydrodenitrification, hydrodesulphurisation, hydrodemetallisation, hydrodesilication, hydrodearomatisation, hydroisomerisation, hydrorefining, hydrogenation purification, and hydrocracking. The material for producing a catalyst, containing a mixed transition metal oxide with the formula: (MIa)m(MIIb)n(MIIIc)o(MIVd)pOeq, wherein MI constitutes a metal or mixture of metals selected from group IB (group 11 according to IUPAC), group IIB (group 12 according to IUPAC), group VIIB (group 7 according to IUPAC) and group IVB (group 4 according to IUPAC); MII constitutes a metal or mixture of metals selected from group VIII (groups 8, 9 and 10 according to IUPAC); MIII constitutes a metal selected from group VIB (group 6 according to IUPAC); MIV constitutes a metal selected from group VIB (group 6 according to IUPAC), different from MIII; a, b, c, d and e constitute the valence state of MI, MII, MIII, MIV, and O; m, n, o, p and q constitute the molar ratio of MI, MII, MIII, MIV, and O, wherein m / (m + n) > 0 and m / (m + n) ≤ 1, wherein (m + n) / (o + p) ranges from 1/10 to 10/1, wherein o/p > 0 and 0 ≤ p/o ≤ 100, wherein q is greater than 0, and a, b, c, d, e, m, n, o, p and q satisfy the equation: a × m + b × n + c × o + d × p + e × q = 0, wherein the mixed transition metal oxide is characterised by an x-ray diffractogram containing a broad peak between the values of 2θ equal to 55° and 58°, with a full width at the half maximum level greater than 3° and at least one of the following: one or more sharp peaks between the values of 2θ equal to 5° and 11.5°, with a full width at the half maximum level less than 0.3°; and one or more sharp peaks between the values of 2θ equal to 11.5° and 32°, with a full width at the half maximum level less than 0.6°.

EFFECT: high activity of the hydrotreatment catalyst.
