SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a portable apparatus (1) with a receiving element (10) forming a receiving space for accommodating a baby or a small child, and with a retaining suspension system (40) for fixing the receiving element (10) on a person. The retaining suspension system (40) has a waist belt (44). The receiving element (10) has a middle part (11) supporting the baby or the small child and connected with the waist belt (44) at a first connection point (41). It is therein provided that the middle part (11) narrows from the upper area (12) in the direction of the waist belt (44), wherein a first and a second expansion elements (13, 14) are connected with the middle part (11) in the upper area (12). The first expansion element (13) extends to the second connection point (42) of the waist belt (44), the position whereof is adjustable by moving the first expansion element (13) along the waist belt (44). Likewise, the second expansion element (14) extends to the third connection point (43) of the waist belt (44), the position whereof is adjustable by moving the second expansion element (14) along the waist belt (44).

EFFECT: creation of a portable apparatus for transporting babies and small children.
