FIELD: mechanical testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for mechanical testing, in particular to a method for testing grinding balls. The claimed method for testing grinding balls for impact resistance includes a comprehensive test of 2 test balls repeatedly colliding with each other throughout the entire test time, while during the test the first ball 1 is located in the socket of the lower stationary holding device 3, and the second ball 2 is located in the socket of the upper movable holding device 4, which is driven directly by a hydraulic or pneumatic plunger, while the second ball 2 simultaneously with the upper holding device 4 rises to a predetermined height and then descends, in this case, the upper ball 2 collides with the lower ball 1, then the process cycle is repeated with a frequency of 60 to 450 beats per minute, depending on the type of impact machine used.
EFFECT: premature detection of defective batches of grinding balls during the impact resistance test due to a more accurate simulation of the impact of balls, when working in ball mills when grinding ores and other materials, using multiple mutual collision of a pair of balls throughout the entire test time on a pneumatic (hydraulic) impact unit, which allows assess the possibility of destruction of balls that have passed the impact strength tests under metal fatigue conditions.
