FIELD: electrolytic processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for electrolysis of water or aqueous solutions producing an anolyte and a catholyte. The apparatus comprises a cylindrical body closed at the end sides with two end covers, a cathode in the form of an inner cylindrical surface of the body, rod anodes installed longitudinally inside the body, and ion-exchange diaphragms located longitudinally in the body between the anodes and the cathode, forming an anode space between the diaphragms and the anodes and a cathode space between the diaphragms and the cathode, as well as water inlets to the anode and cathode spaces, an anolyte outlet from the anode space and a catholyte outlet from the cathode space. The apparatus is therein characterised by being equipped with multiple rod anodes arranged evenly along the cross section of the body, wherein the number of rod anodes is equal to the number of diaphragms, wherein each diaphragm is made in the form of a tube covering the corresponding rod anode, and the end sections of the tubes are installed in the body by means of corresponding disks made of a dielectric material, made with holes for each tube and with means of sealing the cylindrical surface of the disk with the inner cylindrical surface of the body.
