SUBSTANCE: device for assessing the species diversity and abundance of vertebrates weighing up to 1 kg is proposed, including a container with a volume of at least 5 liters with an entrance hole with a diameter of at least 11 cm, a footprint cartridge is located inside the container, which is a sheet of paper or plastic lying on the upper side of the container. At the same time, ink is applied at its end closest to the entrance, and a solid bait designed for one animal is located at a wall of the container farthest from the entrance, while the size of the entrance hole of the container is adjusted using a set of nozzles with holes of a given diameter.
EFFECT: device allows one to avoid too high density of footprints on a footprint platform, as well as reduce labor costs in cases, where it is necessary to assess the abundance of a limited range of animal species.
