SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a collapsible intermodal container for use in transportation or shipping of cargo. The collapsible intermodal container (10, 10', 10'') comprises: a first and a second opposite side walls (12, 14), wherein the first side wall (12) extends substantially parallel to the second side wall (14) and each of the first and the second side walls (12, 14) has a lower end part (12b, 14b) and an upper end part (12a, 14a); an upper wall (16) hingedly connected with the upper end part (12b) of the first side wall (12); and a lower wall (18) hingedly connected with the lower end part (14a) of the second side wall (14). The collapsible intermodal container (10, 10', 10'') is configured to change the configuration between: the mounted configuration, wherein the upper wall (16) extends from the upper end part (12A) of the first side wall (12) to the upper end part (14a) of the second side wall (14), and the lower wall (18) extends from the lower end part (14b) of the second side wall (14) to the lower end part (12b) of the first side wall (12), so that the first and the second side walls (12, 14) are located at a first distance (D1) from each other, forming an internal space (28) for storage of cargo, and a collapsed configuration, wherein the upper wall (16) extends downwards from the upper end part (12b) of the first side wall (12), and the bottom wall (18) extends upwards from the lower end part (14b) of the second side wall (14), so that the first and the second side walls (12, 14) are located at a second distance (D2) from each other, less than the first distance (D1).

EFFECT: improved transportation of empty intermodal containers to the manufacturer for loading products.
