SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a press for a casting machine and to a casting machine with such a press. The press contains a main plate, an upper frame and a movable mounting plate, and on the corner sections of the plates and the corner sections of the upper frame there are two front columns and two rear columns that pass through the corresponding through holes of the movable mounting plate and are fixed to the main plate on a fixed upper frame. The front columns are located at a greater distance from each other than the rear columns. Due to this, significantly wider or longer coquilles or coquilles containing protruding sliders can be inserted and removed again into the area between the main plates and the movable mounting plates, up to a width corresponding to the increased distance between the front columns.

EFFECT: invention provides for the creation of a press for a casting machine, with which it is possible to better use the pressure and compressing capabilities of the press and which at the same time is as simple or comparably simple, stable and compact in terms of design, inexpensive in production and maintenance as conventional presses with rectangular columns.
