FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for measuring the concentration of helium in a fuel element (FE). The apparatus comprises an induction heater including an inductor 2 and a power source 3 connected therewith, a voltage meter 4 or a current meter, or a power meter, connected with the inductor, as well as a computing apparatus 5. The computing apparatus is connected with the voltage meter 4, or current meter, or power meter. The complex resistance of the inductor 2 when an FE section is placed therein ranges from 0.3 R to 0.6 R, wherein R is the value of the internal resistance of the power source 3. The computing apparatus is configured to determine, based on the processing of the received signals, the concentration of helium in the FE and to issue the obtained results to the consumer.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of measuring the concentration of helium at atmospheric pressure in an FE, exclusion/minimisation of an uncontrolled random component of the absolute error in the measurement of the concentration of helium in the FE, caused by misalignment of the thrust tube relative to the FE shell, the presence of a distancing rib on the surface of the FE shell, and the difference in the emittance of heat emission by the surface of the FE shells.
