SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in starter-generator systems for electric vehicles. The starter generator contains a stator winding of several parts, at least one part of the stator winding has a conductor cross-section that is different from the cross-section of another part of the stator winding. Parts of the stator winding with different conductor cross-sections are separated by taps, open when operating in the starter mode with the possibility of current flowing through the entire stator winding and closed when operating in generator mode with the formation of a neutral, with the possibility of current flowing along a part of the stator winding with conductors of a larger cross-section.

EFFECT: reduction of heating of the stator winding due to the implementation of a part of the winding from a wire of a larger cross-section.
