FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method relates to medicine, namely to radiation therapy, and can be used for X-ray therapy of lung cancer. The surface of the tumour bed is irradiated with an external X-ray emission source. An X-ray tube with a remote target located at the end of the anode tube, inserted into the thoracic cavity through an intercostal puncture, is therein used as a source of X-ray radiation. The anode tube is equipped with an applicator used to form a unit square X-ray irradiation field with the side of the square A. The distance H between the target of the X-ray tube and the surface of the tumour bed is then measured. The section of the surface of the tumour bed corresponding to the unit irradiation field is illuminated by visible emission, and sequential step-by-step irradiation of the entire surface of the tumour bed is executed automatically. The value of H at each scanning step is therein connected with the value of A by the ratio .

EFFECT: method increases the effectiveness of X-ray therapy of lung cancer by increasing the size of the irradiated surface.
