FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mesoporous carbon with a beaded structure wherein primary particles with mesopores are connected. The average size of the primary particles of mesoporous carbon therein ranges from 7 to 300 nm and is produced by measuring the length in the direction of the minor axis a hundred and more randomly selected primary particles under a microscope and calculating the average value, the diameter of mesopores ranges from 2 to 10 nm; the average wall thickness of mesopores ranges from 3 to 15 nm; the pore volume of mesoporous carbon ranges from 0.2 to 3.0 ml/g, and the bulk density of mesoporous carbon ranges from 0.03 to 0.3 g/cm3 and is measured in accordance with Japanese industrial standards (JIS) Z. The invention also relates to a fuel cell and to a method for producing mesoporous carbon.

EFFECT: proposed mesoporous carbon has a low filling rate and a high electronic conductivity.
