FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used as an electrode material in chemical current sources, catalyst carrier and medical sorbent. Metalorganic compound is zinc glycerolate of composition Zn(C3H7O3)4 - heat treated in an inert atmosphere at 500–750 °C. Resulting product is treated with an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid, washed and dried. High-quality final product - mesoporous carbon - is characterized by a reduced oxygen content, the absence of chlorine ion impurities, a high specific pore volume due to an increase in the volume fraction of mesopores and the complete absence of macropores.
EFFECT: method is simple and technological.
